We both feel that it’s important to give something back on this trip, and that is why we’ve decided to support Against Malaria Foundation (AMF)

Against Malaria Foundation fund nets and ensure they are distributed and used – closely monitoring where they go, how they’re used and what the impact is. A simple, yet incredibly effective way to prevent Malaria.

Malaria kills more than one million people every year and over half a billion fall ill:

70% of the deaths are children under 5
Malaria is the world’s single largest killer of pregnant women
90% of the deaths are in sub-Saharan Africa

Yet malaria is totally preventable and treatable. Nobody need die. Prevention is better than treatment.

The most effective means of prevention is sleeping under a mosquito net
Specifically a Long-Lasting Insecticide treated Net (LLIN)
Each net costs $4/€3/£2.50
Every 50-250 nets distributed and installed equals 1 life saved

We hope to join the AMF team in Malawi and work with them to distribute nets to some of the remote areas. This means that the money raised will go towards nets that we can then take for you so that you know exactly where your donation has gone and how it’s being used
